View news by categories

Information comes in many forms. Spark organizes monitored news into four key categories: "business," "R&D," "regulatory," and "public funding." This categorization helps you quickly identify the type of information most relevant to different stakeholders within your organization.

Analyze news by geographical region

News relevance often varies by geography. Spark's news monitor lets you filter content by specific regions, giving you the geographic focus you need. While global coverage is the default, you can narrow your focus to regions like Europe, North America, MENA, and others to get regionally relevant intelligence.

There is one exception: R&D updates are not regionalized. Since these updates are scientific research articles, we do not think that geographic categorization would be helpful for these updates.

Custom time periods

You can select from three time period options: one week for the most current developments, one month for medium-term trends, or one quarter for broader pattern recognition and strategic planning.

Time periods do more than just filter by date. Each period — whether a week, month, or quarter — uses distinct algorithms to process and identify key news themes. This mirrors how humans naturally approach news curation: we use different criteria when creating a weekly brief versus a monthly summary.

Flexible reporting

With the news monitor, you can create comprehensive news briefs based on your monitored topics. You can download these briefs as Word documents for easy distribution, presentation, or archiving.

Choose your output language

Although English is the default language, Spark's news monitor can generate news overviews and briefs in different languages—enabling effective intelligence sharing across international teams.

Different news briefs for different roles

One of Spark's most powerful features is its ability to customize reports for specific roles like "policy leaders" or "R&D team." The system filters and prioritizes content based on each role, ensuring teams receive the most relevant news for their work. Each topic comes with a role-specific "why relevant?" explanation, providing context that helps recipients quickly understand the significance of each news topic.
